LOROS Light up a Life Sponsorship

LOROS Hospice Light up a Life 2019

Each year more than 1,000 people of all ages come together to remember someone special who has passed away.

The annual memorial service, during the festive period, takes place in the Leicester hospice’s grounds, with access provided to their chapel.

In 2016 and 2017 Morningside Pharmaceuticals Ltd were humbled to be given the opportunity to sponsor the Light up a Life service.

LOROS Events Manager Laura Betts said: “We are so grateful to the team at Morningside for wanting to support our Light up a Life event once again.

“It’s fantastic to see a local organisation supporting a local charity and it’s only thanks to generous support from companies like Morningside that events like these are able to go ahead.”

Dr Nik Kotecha, Chief Executive of Morningside, added: “This is the second time we have sponsored Light up a Life and we are once again honoured to be doing so.

“Christmas can be such a difficult time when you’re missing that special someone but the Light up a Life service gives everyone an opportunity to come together and remember together.

“We’re extremely proud to support an event like this, it is clearly much-loved by the community and it’s a lovely event to be associated with.”

Dr Kotecha also supports LOROS by sitting on the charity’s Board.

Xmas Jumper Day & Festive Bake Off

Christmas Jumper Day at Morningside Pharmaceuticals

Ho Ho Ho the festive spirit was well and truly at Morningside Pharmaceuticals today, as the company came together for our annual Christmas Jumper Day and Festive Bake Off.

Colleagues from across the business wore a variety of festive inspired jumpers and other tinselly accessories inspired by the Christmas spirit.

Our people very kindly donated to charity to mark the occasion and in total, together with our Christmas party’s fundraising activities, £200 was raised for the Zinthiya Trust. This is a remarkable Leicester charity which supports women and girls experiencing or at risk of all types of abuse.

Morningside’s colleagues also came together at lunch time for the annual Bake-Off, which saw a number of delicious treats provided.

Our very own in-house Paul Hollywood stepped up to judge the submissions, with colleagues enjoying the home made dishes once judging was over.

From everyone at Morningside Pharmaceuticals we wish you and your family a very happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous 2019.

UK East African Health Summit

Morningside Pharmaceuticals supplies global aid agencies with quality medicine.

The 4th East African Health Summit took place in London and looked for ways to support the UK and East African governments with responding to current and future health issues, as well as achieving greater investment in African healthcare systems.

The summit was supported by the Uganda UK Health Alliance, British Medical Association (BMA), British Medical Journal (BMJ), NHS Health Education England, and headline sponsors Morningside Pharmaceuticals.

Delegations from the UK and African governments, NHS leaders, policy makers and representatives from African ministries of health came together with international healthcare experts, investors, solution providers and business leaders.

One success story from the past year saw Everton Football Club send a representative to attend the UK East Africa Health Improvement Summit in Uganda, as well as pledging the Club’s charitable support for 5 years to the West Nile refugee operation in East Africa.

Part of the summit looked to private sector businesses to provide innovative solutions and investment in African healthcare systems.

The Department for International Trade (DIT) also led a break-out session in the House of Lords, chaired by Lord Dolar Popat the UK Trade Envoy to Rwanda and Uganda, where business leaders looked at how promoting private sector engagement and UK exports can strengthen bilateral trade across the East African markets.

Another healthcare priority area for the summit was to explore how governments are supporting major health issues, particularly Malaria.

The session was hosted by Jeremy Lefroy MP, Chair of All-Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases, which aimed to raise awareness of malaria and neglected tropical diseases amongst parliamentarians; and to encourage the UK Government to provide political will, leadership and sustainable funding for the necessary prevention and treatment of these diseases.

The summit also looked for fresh ways to galvanise investment in Research and Development including malaria vaccines and treatment drugs, new generations of insecticides and genetic modifications, which would be designed to eliminate malaria carrying mosquitoes or prevent transmission.

New Warehouse Officially Opens

Official Morningside Pharmaceuticals warehouse opening

A new warehouse at Morningside Pharmaceuticals’ UK distribution centre has been officially opened.

Each month millions of tablets, capsules and liquids leave our Loughborough depot with great emphasis on meeting our customers’ requirements.

Our licensed pharmaceutical products are distributed twice daily nationwide in the UK, so they are available when our customers and their patients need them.

We are also one of the largest suppliers of a wide range of quality medicines and medical devices to UN organisations, NGOs, aid agencies and charities, which in turn provide essential medical supplies to developing countries.

Through our Loughborough distribution centre we deliver global aid to crisis-hit states in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas, having reached over 100 countries world-wide over the past 25 years.

For the opening, all Morningside colleagues gathered in the new warehouse, where our Operations Director Monica Huang gave a short speech. The ribbon was then officially cut by Monica and our two Warehouse managers.

Monica said: “The new warehouse complements our existing facilities and marks a significant milestone, as it provides valuable additional storage capacity for our business.

“This would not have been possible without the dedication of our people who have been united and have worked together extremely well.

“I would like to thank everyone at Morningside for your hard work, as it’s our people who make this business so successful.”
