Barnstorming finale to Leicestershire Innovation Festival, as the county’s leading innovators were recognised during a glittering awards ceremony at the LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards, which Morningside were once again proud headline sponsors of.

Our Chairman Dr Nik Kotecha OBE was honoured to deliver a keynote speech, as well as to present the Innovation in Med Tech & Life Sciences Award, at the event hosted at Leicester City FC’s King Power stadium.

Speaking about the awards, Dr Nik said: “Congratulations to all of the nominees for making it through to the 2022 LeicestershireLive Innovation Awards finals. Now in its 4th year, the awards have become one of the stand-out dates in Leicestershire’s busy annual awards calendar, as well as one of the flagship events for the County’s ever popular Innovation Festival.

“You only have to look at the night’s innovators to see that companies and individuals in Leicestershire are becoming trailblazers for innovation and deserve to be recognised for their exceptional work.

“Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners who have used innovation to demonstrate the very best technology, services, digital advances and creative thinking, which Leicestershire has to offer.”

Speaking about the significance of today’s innovators to Leicestershire’s future prosperity, Dr Nik added: “The innovators of today will be the entrepreneurial success stories of tomorrow, so having the opportunity to understand and celebrate their often ground-breaking work is a real privilege.

“Leicester Innovation Festival and the Innovation Awards are central to the county’s efforts to showcase the remarkable innovations we have taking place here.

“It’s great to see this year’s winners receive the recognition they deserve for their inspirational work, which in many cases will bring about great benefits to our businesses, communities and society as a whole, in the years ahead.”

Dr Nik Appointed East Midlands CBI Chair

Dr Nik Kotecha OBE appointed Chairman of the East Midlands CBI

Congratulations to our Founder and Chairman Dr Nik Kotecha OBE who has been appointed Chair of the East Midlands CBI (Confederation of British Industry).

Speaking about his new appointment Dr Kotecha said: “I am thrilled to be taking over as chair of the East Midlands CBI Regional Council at what is a challenging yet potentially exciting time for business.

“The CBI has some bold ambitions designed to grow prosperity and opportunity throughout the East Midlands economy, as we look to rebuild from the pandemic, nurture new cross-sector collaborations and move towards a low-carbon future.

“Doing so will take a concerted effort from government, education and enterprise. Leaders must foster a culture of growth by investing in the infrastructure, people and skills this region needs to combat pockets of deprivation and raise aspirations and attainment.

“If we get the key decisions right at this pivotal time, I am confident there is a bright future in store for East Midlands businesses. I look forward to playing my part in this new role alongside regional CBI colleagues.”

Richard Blackmore, CBI Midlands Director, said: “I am delighted to welcome Dr Kotecha to the role of Regional Chair, and would also like to place on record my thanks to Darren Wilson for his huge contribution to the region during the challenges of the past two years.

“Dr Kotecha brings a wealth of knowledge of the region and insight into the issues that matter to businesses. His expertise will be a major asset for businesses and for the CBI as we look to work towards a net-zero future and implement the strategies for growth set out in our Seize The Moment economic vision.”
