Morningside Pharmaceuticals were delighted to win the Export category at the Insider Media Made in the Midlands Awards 2022, hosted by BBC Sports Presenter and Strictly Come Dancing Star, Mike Bushell.

The glittering awards ceremony was hosted at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, in Birmingham, and attended by scores of highly successful, innovative and rapidly growing manufacturing companies from the East and West Midlands.

Speaking about why Morningside was chosen as the winner in the Export category, the judges said: “The business has pivoted from one which manufactured other companies’ drugs to one which develops, makes and distributes generic medicines. This has led to major international growth.”

The Export category was a natural fit for Morningside as we were founded on an entrepreneur’s dream in the 1990s as a 100% exporting business, before growing into new markets by embracing Research & Development, Innovation and Continuous Improvement.

Insider Media described the award as being for a manufacturing company based in the Midlands, which the judges felt is the most outstanding exporter in terms of international presence, export growth, and exports as a proportion of sales within the qualifying period.

Speaking at the time about the award win, Morningside’s former Chairman, Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL, said: “We’re delighted to have won this award, which has been achieved through the hard work and dedication of our people, who work tirelessly to ensure doctors and their patients globally receive the often life-saving medicine they require.

“Morningside is a proud Midlands based manufacturer, distributor and supplier of quality medicines to the UK and international markets. Over the past 30 years, since our inception, we have exported to more than 120 countries.

“The Midlands is the manufacturing heartland of the UK, and we’re truly honoured to be recognised in this way alongside so many of the region’s best and brightest manufacturing businesses.”

We are quite literally over the moon to learn that LOROS Hospice’s Rocket Round Leicester art trail has raised an out of this world £317,141!

Morningside Pharmaceuticals participated in the lift off of the 10 week trail in Leicester last summer, by sponsoring our rocket called ‘Hopes Dreams and Wishes’.

Here it is proudly exhibited by our Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Cliff Fung.

As well as the stratospheric amount raised, the art trail also brought over 271,000 visitors into Leicester who actively engaged with the rockets, with each giant rocket enjoying 90,000 visitors on average.

A spokesperson from LOROS said: “We couldn’t have taken on this mission and reached for the stars if it wasn’t for you. Thanks to your generosity, LOROS Hospice will be able to continue supporting patients and their families at a difficult time of their lives. The funds raised contribute directly to helping us to provide free, compassionate and specialist care when it matters most.

“Here at LOROS, we have been blown away by the support shown towards Rocket Round Leicester. Every donation given, sculpture collected, and selfie taken, has been out-of-this-world. ”
