Dr Nik Kotecha OBE, Chief Executive of Morningside Pharmaceuticals Ltd, examines how businesses can benefit from award wins.
“We have been honoured to have won a number of awards over the past few years for both our pharmaceutical activities and business success.
“I was personally very humbled to be named Director of the Year by the East Midlands Institute of Directors last year, which was unexpected, and something I’m immensely proud of.
“I think winning awards brings a number of benefits. In terms of staff morale, it certainly brings a boost and makes our employees feel they are part of a successful business with a bright future. Our aim is for our employees to love coming to work, so winning awards, combined with our CSR activity, helps to achieve this.
“Another benefit is the positive affect awards have on building Morningside’s public profile – both locally and nationally. We manufacture quality medicines for UK hospitals and pharmacies, so it’s important that our patients know who is providing their healthcare products. Awards, as well as our extensive CSR activity, help create a positive narrative around our brand that then reflects on the products we supply.
“My advice to businesses, looking to win an award, is to focus on your strengths. Choose an award and a category which aligns well with these strengths and give specific examples for each question, backed up with quantifiable outcomes.”
